Assignment

  1. Receive a copy of the course syllabus. Read the syllabus. Take it home and have your parents read it also. Then fill out the signature page, sign and return it by next Monday.
  2. As per the instructions in the syllabus, create a G-mail account. Email Mr. Reece at tabascojack1 @ gmail.com
  3. As per the instructions attached below, create your blog at Blogger or update your existing blog. INvite Mr. Reece to be a contributor and then grant him Administrator privileges.
  4. Familiarize yourself with the website and read ahead in your assignments.

Shaft T-Block Drawing

[STANDARD ACT-TM-3.1 & 3.3: Student shall draw T-welding joints and corner welding joints applying the correct welding symbols.]

autocad Drawing #19-3, page 714

ESSENTIAL QUESTION: Explain why welding symbols are important to the manufacturer?

Assignment

Use AutoCAD to create a new drawing of problem #19-3 on page 714.

Download a template file from U:\Students\Autocad\Tech Manufacturing. Save the template to your student number as an AutoCAD Drawing file.
Draw an orthographic projection of the front, top and right side views of the object.
Dimension the drawing in standard metric format and include the correct welding symbols. The symbols are located in the Design Center. Click on VIEW in the Ribbon Toolbar. In the PALETTES Panel select the DESIGN CENTER icon. Navigate to the Welding drawing and drag the appropriate symbol block into your drawing.

Save the file in your student folder as 19-3.dwg
Plot the file on a "B" size sheet and turn in.

ESSENTIAL QUESTION: Explain why welding symbols are important to the manufacturer?

Assignment

Use AutoCAD to create a new drawing of problem #19-10 on page 716.

Inventor Weldment Tutorial

[STANDARD ACT-TM-3.1: Student shall draw T-welding joints and corner welding joints applying the correcet welding symbols.]

 

ESSENTIAL QUESTION: Explain why welding symbols are important to the manufacturer?

Assignment

Open this link to the Weldment Tutorial. If the link should not work, then open Inventor and click on Tutorials in the ribbon and navigate down to TUTORIALS > INVENTOR TUTORIALS > WELDMENTS.
If you are at a workstation that has dual monitors the move the tutorial to the second monitor. If you are not at a dual monitor workstation then you should log on to a second computer to view the tutorial while you work.

The first tutorial is just teaching you how to start a weldment drawing.

The tutorial files have been installed on the C:\ drive. Change the PROJECT to the TUTORIAL folder as instructed. The files are "read only" files. Once you open the file, save it to your student number and then work on your copy of the file.

Add a Title Block to the drawing sheet. Fill in the Title Block information.
Print the finished drawing at Scale to Fit on a "B" size sheet.

Assignment

Change the active project back to your student folder.
Use Inventor to create a new weldment assembly and drawing of problem #19-3 on page 714.
Apply the appropriate weldments as indicated.
Create a "B" size drawing with orthographic projects of the top, front and right side views. Place a smaller scale isometric view in the upper right corner of the sheet.
Dimension the orthographic views in standard metric format including the correct welding symbols.

Save the files to your student folder as 19-3.i**
Print the "B" size sheet and turn in.
